Curly, thick, unruly hair...is there a product i could use to make it not so frizzy and poufy???

my hair is long, thick and naturally curly...and a natural, annoying tendancy to frizz and pouf especially in the heat. i like to wear my hair curly and straighten it on occasion. is there a product that you could recommend and a place to get it that would help it be smooth and straight when i want it, and curly and frizz-free also??

I haven't straightened my hair in over a year, so I can't help you there, but here's what I have started doing for my curly hair and it's done wonders in just a few days (I've been working on taming it for almost a year, and this worked nearly overnight!)

When I wash my hair (which I do in the morning):

In the shower, tilt your head back so that when the water hits it's hitting your hairline and running back into your hair, not straight onto your hair and smushing the curls.

Once your hair is wet, put some conditioner in your hands (I use Herbal Essences Totally Twisted) and run it over the top layer of your hair. Be careful, you want to keep the shape of the curl, don't flatten them!

Next, put some more conditioner in your hands and finger-brush through your hair with this. This is basically the only time I brush my hair, in the shower.

Rinse this out for a short time. Do the same thing as you did to get your hair wet, but only for a few seconds.

Run a little more conditioner over your hair (I hope this makes sense. Don't go through or lather it in, just moisturize the top/outer layers, these get most damage). Leave this in, and go on with the rest of your showerness. Don't rinse it out!

Drying: With a towel, slowly scrunch your hair. (Lean over to the side and let your hair fall, then take the towel from below and push it up towards your head, being sure, again, not to smush anything.)

Lastly: Scrunch a little leave in conditioner (I use Garnier Fructis Curl and Shine) through your hair and over the outer layers gently. Again: DON'T SMUSH! That's it! This leaves your hair essentially frizz-free, shiny, and not crunchy! I can finally let people touch my hair without worrying about ruining it!

Good luck!

I have the same exact kind of hair %26amp; its a pain.

Every morning I get out of the shower %26amp; start with leave in conditioner, I brush it all out. Then I load it up with Mousse. Put a little gel in it %26amp; finish it up with hairspray. It gives you a wet look all day long.

Hope I helped! %26lt;3.

after you shower,

use a small amount of a setting lotion, for your hair type,

when you blowdry, use a brush, and go downwards, keeping the dryer close,

this willkeep the cuticle down,

and it'll be more tame.

I also have long dark naturally curly/ frizzy hair. I love Marc Jacobs line of curl shampoo and conditioner and moose. They are more expensive but I have noticed a decrease in frizz by a substantial amount! You can buy it at most solons. I also bought a solon quality hair straightner for the times when I want straight hair. It straightens it soooooooooo easily.

I have the same type of hair. I use Garnier Fructis Curl Construct mousse. It is the best I have found. You can either scrunch it into your hair or, if you have more time, separate your hair into a bunch of sections and twist around your finger. Use a hairdryer with a diffuser and only dry near your scalp. Let the ends air dry. Curly hair will have a little frizz no matter what you use. For smooth, straight hair use John Frieda's Frizz-Ease Hair Serum.
